The loss of control is cinraetly hard to handle. We love to be in control we crave the illusion of control and for some of us we will resort to many (pointless) strategies to get some illusion of control back again. I know I cinraetly do! Your line about our experience of trauma being like a fingerprint on our psyche really struck me very powerfully although I feel mine are great big dirty splodges and for a perfectionist neat freak like me, that’s very hard to handle!
